The Glorious Gower & Cultural Wales
7th - 11th August

Our tour to South Wales sees us return, by request, to Porthcawl, where we will be staying in a prime location right on the sea-front.

Our first day out is to St. Fagan's National History Museum which stands in the grounds of the magnificent St. Fagan's Castle and Gardens, a late 16th century manor house. Since then over 40 original buildings from different historical periods have been re-erected. See craftsmen demonstrate their traditional skills and gain an insight into the rich heritage and culture of Wales. We will then have time in Cardiff before returning to the hotel.

Our other excursion is to the stunning Gower peninsula, the first place in Britain to be named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. See unspoilt scenery, The Mumbles, Rhossili Bay and the famous Worm's Head. We will stop in Swansea, the birth place of Dylan Thomas, a mix of beautiful coastline and urban culture. Visit the historic market and try laverbread, made from seaweed from the Gower, or visit one of the many museums. Make sure you find time to stop at the iconic Joe's Ice-cream shop for one of his famous ices.

You will have a free day in Porthcawl to explore the beautiful Glamorgan Heritage coast including the seven gorgeous beaches along the shoreline.
